Harmony Day Concert

Posted on March 14, 2023March 14, 2023 By Dance Therapy Group 1 Comment on Harmony Day Concert
Hello All:
I had to send a short bio for our group and our dances, here is what I sent guys. Hope it's OK with you all, and apologies for not checking before with you as I had no time (returned from Gold Coast yesterday!).
DANCE THERAPY
We are a social group of Shoalhaven residents who love to dance, meet weekly at a local venue and enjoy teaching each other dance styles from our different cultural backgrounds. We danced together for more than three (3) years, and suspended our social meetings during the COVID times. We will be dancing three (3) traditional European dances:
  • VALLE POGONISHTE: Valle Pogonishte is a folk dance from Pogon in southern Albania. It is related to the Greek dance Pogonisios or Sta Dyo. The time signature is in, and it is danced in an open circle; dancers bounce twice gently on every count. The track we will dance is performed by SAMI KALLMI, and the lyrics are in Greek language ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_LKGHbxoqY )
  • GORANI: Dance from Daron, a region in former West Armenia, present Anatolia (Turkey). It is a mixed line dance. The movements are slow and the music has a serene atmosphere. Gorani is derived from Khergour, the name of a mountain in Daron. Khergour was nicknamed Khor because the people believed that this god lived on the mountain. Khor was worshipped in times of suffering. The song dates back to the Middle Ages and was originally a love song performed on celebrations in Daron. The track is performed by the MURADIAN ENSEMBLE ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYTaTobU7mw ).
  • ZORBA: Zorba's Dance is an instrumental piece composed by MIKIS THEODORAKIS. The song featured for the dance, known as SIRTAKI, in the 1964 film Zorba the Greek became renowned around the world. It is now commonly played and danced to in Greek tavernas. The track we will dance for you it's performed by the EMMETRON ORCHESTRA ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG12C1oX5Eo )

Good day all

Attached is the program for next Saturday – Please let me know if there is anything you need changing.
Can you please send me a short bio of your group / performance and let me know how you will be playing music – mostly applies to dance groups. I’m needing to finalise set up with Sound techs ASAP so need any specific information needed for your group.
I have choirs in hand and James I’m speaking with Log later today.
Looking forward to Saturday – the weather is looking great. Thank you to all of you for your support and generosity.
