Hello Dance Therapy friends:
We had our 1st dance session of the 2024 season, and it was GREAT!
We had 11 attendees were: Alison, Bev, Kate, Lia, Michael, Peg, Sharon, Sue, Wendy and Sean and Raul. Join me in giving a warm welcome to Wendy and Sean who are new members in the group !!!
After a celebratory afternoon tea (with delicious donuts, kitkat’s, potato chips, etc), we proceeded to dance the following classic choreographies:
- VALLE POGONISHTE ( https://arregui.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/valle-pogonishte-albanian-tutorial-peg.mp4 )
- WAKA-WAKA ( https://arregui.net/wp-content/uploads/1608/35/waka-waka-latin-pop-tutorial-marisabel.mp4 )
- JERUSALEMA ( https://arregui.net/wp-content/uploads/1608/33/jerusalema-kizomba-tutorial-raul.mp4 )
- GORANI ( https://arregui.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/gorani-armenian-tutorial-suzi.mp4 )
and a few of us stayed a bit later and danced a couple more:
Well done everyone. It was a great way to start the new year !!!
As discussed, we need to make a decision about what NEW choreographies to start working on from the list previously sent:
- Calm Down (Nigerian Afrobeat Dance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLo9QCNlBJI
- Dabka (Palestinian Dance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKhi9LUk8tU
- Jambalaya (Creole Line Dance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOYWoTWv2lg
- Sesere eeye (Torres Strait Dance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SATEqK2NK5Q
- (dance and singing performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lVHod6KDJ0)
- (song lyrics and info: https://www.mamalisa.com/?t=es&p=5089)
- Specknerin (English Circle Dance): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7goq5IxNWM
Besides these 5 options, our dear Sharon Levitt has another choreography she’d like to suggest (Sharon: please resend me the YouTube link for the tutorial as I did not get it today). If any member has other ideas to suggest, please send the names and YouTube link to the tutorial via email no later than by tomorrow 5pm (Tue 5th March).
Hope all new choreography suggestions from the team will be sent out by tomorrow 5pm; and then, please review them all and send your 3 chosen choreographies no later than by Thu 7th March 5pm (you will have 2 days to choose your 3 options). Also, if you are keen to teach any of these choreographies, please let me know !!! (I will help you, but I cannot do them all and I need help!).
Look forward to getting Sharon’s and any other group suggestions tomorrow; then for the team to choose the 3 next choreographies by Thu and to get going from next session on Monday 11th March 4:30pm (dance to start from 5pm). Have a great week; and see you next week !!!
Hugs & kisses,

Thanks Raul I think I'd like to do the Dabka, in support of our palestinian brothers and sisters and also I think it would be a feel good dance. PegAlso I have dances, both traditional and ones I have made, maybe I could teach one some time? I would have to film the one I have made and do a tutorial I guess? On Mon, Mar 4, 2024 at 11:49 PM <[email protected]> wrote:
